Considering the millions that players earn from their sports, not to mention the fame and respect that they gain, it is difficult to understand why they would screw up their careers by violating rules placed in their contract. Evan Bourne is the (im)perfect example of a wrestler who simply doesn’t seem to care of where his career is going.
All you WWE fans out there would remember that Evan got suspended from the WWE not too long back, for smoking synthetic marijuana. Even though he was accompanied by fellow wrestler R-Truth at the time, Truth was not suspended at the time, because he was a participant in an upcoming main event storyline.
Evan, however, refused to keep the matter discreet, despite WWE’s insistence, and protested against only him being suspended. Truth was suspended later, after the event, but WWE suffered a tarnished reputation for preferential treatment.
One would think that Evan had learnt his lesson from the incident, and would return with a newfound dedication, but his recent suspension has proved else wise. Although the exact reason for his suspension has not been specified, it is being stated as “violation of the company’s wellness policy”.
The suspension will last for 60 days, which will be over on March 17, 2012. Evan is surely going to be missed in the upcoming WWE events, but there is no denying that he has called this upon himself. We can just hope that when he returns next time, he has some sense knocked into him!
As for the repercussions of his suspension, the most evident of these will be the end of Air Boom. We can also expect to see Kofi Kingston being pushed into the singles competition. It will surely be interesting to see what comes out of that!
